What a great Hikes + Hops evening! Thank you to everyone who came and spent their Friday evening with us! Big shout out and thank you to Mother Earth Brewing Company for pouring beers for us!

Two days till we get to take you on the brand new accessible trail in Hull’s Gulch Reserve as part of Hikes + Hops! Come learn about the work being done by Ridge to Rivers, Boise Parks and Recreation, and the City of Boise to make our foothills accessible to everyone. Then enjoy a beverage from Mother Earth Brewing Company in the Foothills Learning Center backyard!

Tickets are $10 and include a guided hike along with a beverage (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available). Kids are free with a ticketed adult!!

Name that bird! One of our favorite migrating species has taken up summer residence here at the foothills! Do you know what kind of bird it is? Hint - It’s waxy and likes cedar 😉

They were busy gathering sticks to build a nest inside the box. We’re excited to watch how the nest progresses over the next few weeks!

Temps have evened out and spring wildflowers are blooming throughout the Boise Foothills - there is no better time for an evening hike, followed by a refreshing drink from Western Collective!

Incredible visit from a Cooper’s hawk (Accipiter cooperii) along our Story Trail!

Today we saw an American badger (Taxidea taxus) on one of our field trips! 🦡

Please keep in mind that badgers can be dangerous to interact with, so please keep your distance if you ever see one in the foothills. 🦡

Today we released our painted lady butterflies! 🦋

Big THANK YOU to the Intermountain Bird Observatory who came by today with a female Cooper’s hawk! Our preschoolers loved seeing this incredible bird up close and personal!!

This hawk was quickly banded, measured, and released back into the wild as part of IBOs winter raptor research project. Only biologists can handle birds like this, with proper state and federal permits.
