We are incredibly proud of our Gardner-Webb PA and nursing faculty and students for their commitment to serving the community through the Washington Outreach Ministry’s Diabetes Education Maintenance and Control (DEMAC) program. Our students have stepped beyond the classroom to provide blood pressure screenings, health education, and support for community members while gaining invaluable real-world experience. A special shoutout to Dr. Clark for her dedication to this initiative and for helping recruit and supervise our students while learning, serving, and making a difference in the community.

This partnership exemplifies the heart of the PA and nursing professions: compassionate service, patient-centered care, and a commitment to improving health outcomes for underserved communities. Through this opportunity, our students are not only developing clinical skills but also learning the importance of meeting people where they are, understanding the social factors that influence health, and building meaningful relationships with those they serve.
Thank you to Washington Outreach Ministry and Rev. Frances Webber for creating opportunities that allow our students to learn while making a lasting impact. We are honored to be part of a partnership that truly demonstrates that we are better together. 💙🎓🩺
