Award Winning Films & Filmmakers GWU course set up for exploring Award-winning films and filmmakers

This class will explore a variety of award-winning films and filmmakers and examine numerous movie award organizations and film festivals (including; The Oscars, Golden Globes, Critics Choice, Producers Guild, Screen Actors Guild, Sundance, Real to Reel and more). Through lectures, guest speakers, the viewing of films, in-class discussions, and written projects - we will discover the impact of the

se awards on the film viewing public and on the filmmakers themselves. Through this course, students will also get a closer look at why the film industry vies for award-winning recognition each year, and why it is important for film-viewing consumers to understand the power of film awards-season.

Final Exam: Part 1 = 50% of final exam (due May 3)

Select any award-winning film (from any era) and write a 500-word evaluation on the film. Make sure that you examine all components of the film evaluation outline (including the importance of script, cinematography, music, acting, etc). Make sure that you also note what awards the film earned.
