UGA Extension Athens-Clarke County We translate the science of everyday life for families, farmers, and communities to foster a healthy and prosperous Georgia.

What Athens-Clarke County Extension does:
- Answers your lawn and garden questions over the phone, in person and through email

- Provides you with relevant electronic and print resources from UGA College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences

- Provides soil and water testing (fee)

- Submits your plant samples to the UGA Plant Pathology Lab (fee)

- Hosts free gardening classes taught by Athe

ns Area Master Gardeners and UGA faculty

- Facilitates the Georgia Master Gardener, Master Composter and Master Naturalist Programs

- Coordinates volunteers to provide gardening and composting outreach; volunteers lead educational workshops for school, civic and community groups and assist with community projects

🌟 New research suggests that mental health workers may hold harsher views towards people with opioid addiction than the general public.

Led by Extension Evaluation Specialist Virginia Brown, the study found that these negative views could impact how providers treat opioid-addicted patients, as well as the likelihood of patients seeking treatment.
