With the release of the new Odyssey film, I thought it would be fun to revisit the ancient epic that inspired it. While some customs belong in the past, many of its lessons on courtesy, hospitality, and respect are surprisingly timeless. Here are my etiquette takeaways:

1. Hospitality
Welcome guests before getting down to business. A warm greeting and making someone feel comfortable never go out of style.

2. Respect Everyone
How we treat waitstaff, cashiers, hotel employees, and others in service roles says more about our character than our status.

3. Listen First
The best conversationalists don't simply wait for their turn to speak. They listen with genuine interest.

4. Keep Pride in Check
Humility often prevents unnecessary conflict. Good manners begin with self-awareness.

5. Respect Someone Else's Home
Don't overstay your welcome. Be considerate of their space, belongings, and generosity.

6. Make a Thoughtful First Impression
Appearance isn't everything, but presenting yourself with care shows respect for the occasion and the people around you.

7. Express Gratitude
A sincere "thank you" has always been one of the simplest and most meaningful acts of etiquette.

8. Courtesy Has No Rank
Everyone deserves kindness and respect, regardless of their title, wealth, or position.

9. Practice Self-Control
Patience, restraint, and choosing your words carefully are timeless social skills.

10. Let Conversation Be Shared
Great conversations aren't performances. Ask questions, invite others to speak, and leave room for every voice.

Of course, not every custom in The Odyssey belongs in modern life. Etiquette evolves. My goal is simply to explore the timeless principles of consideration that continue to resonate today.

Somewhere along the way, we started believing that saying, "I'm proud of myself," was the same as bragging.
It isn't.
Being proud of yourself doesn't take anything away from anyone else. It simply honors the work, the setbacks, the courage, and the perseverance that brought you here.
This year, Class Act has grown in ways I once only hoped for.
And you know what?
I'm proud of myself.
I hope we become a generation that's a little less afraid to say those words. We spend so much time celebrating everyone else. We should celebrate our own growth, too.
So here's your reminder today:
It's okay to be proud of yourself. Say it out loud. 🤍

Kiddiquette 101 | Summer Workshop Recap
What an incredible day 🤍

We laughed, learned, practiced, and watched confidence grow right before our eyes. From proper introductions and handshakes to posture, table etiquette, and meaningful conversation, these children embraced every lesson with enthusiasm and kindness.

My goal has never been perfection. It's helping children feel confident in social settings, treat others with respect, and carry themselves with grace long after the workshop ends.
Thank you to every family who trusted me with your wonderful children. It was truly a joy to spend the day with each of them, and I can't wait for the next Kiddiquette experience.
