Every carrier, client, and IA firm can have different expectations.

How do they want photos documented?

What reports are required?

What are the file deadlines?

Who do you contact when there is a problem?

What does QA expect?

How are files submitted?

Orientation is where you learn the workflow you are actually expected to follow.

Do not assume every assignment works the same way.

Owning the equipment is not the same as having it ready.

Before a CAT deployment, test the gear you are going to depend on.

Charge the laptop.

Charge the phone.

Charge the tablet.

Check the batteries.

Check the chargers.

Test the measuring tools.

Make sure the ladder equipment is ready.

Pack backups where they make sense.

The last thing you want is to arrive at the storm and find out the equipment you planned to use is dead, missing, or not working.

Your truck is about to become your office.

On a CAT deployment, your vehicle is not just how you get to the claim.

It is where you:

drive from loss to loss
store equipment
charge devices
organize field gear
eat between appointments
keep the day moving

That means vehicle preparation matters.

Check the tires.

Check the fluids.

Fuel up.

Organize the gear.

Secure the ladder.

Make sure your chargers and field supplies are ready.

Once the claims start coming in, the last thing you need is your vehicle becoming the reason your day falls apart.

Don’t book the cheapest hotel just because it’s the cheapest.

On a CAT deployment, your lodging decision affects more than your nightly rate.

You need to look at:

where the claims are
how long the drive will be
traffic
availability
how long you expect to stay

Saving $20 or $30 a night does not help much if you create a brutal commute and lose hours every day.

The smarter question is:

What lodging gives me the best balance of price, location, and drive time?
