Please welcome Sarah Box to the In The Irons instructor team! 🐴 Get to know Sarah in her own words:

I started riding at age 10 right here in Boerne, where I trained in dressage and competed in jumping shows at the Rose Palace. That early foundation carried me to Houghton College in New York, where I studied equestrian studies and became fully immersed in the dressage lifestyle. There I also fell in love with eventing and jumpers, using everything dressage taught me to find new heights and go fast.

After college, I took working student positions in dressage with John Mason at Texover Farms and with Benny Pfabe, the lead instructor for youth dressage team Region 9, and went on to compete at First Level, Test 3. I later stepped back from professional riding to help my mom before she retired. I’ve spent the last few years in an office, but I never fully left the barn. I kept a horse of my own until recently.

My training is rooted in the classical influences of Walter Zettl, whose clinics I rode in during high school, and Edo Hoekstra. Whether I’m jumping across a field or riding a dressage test, my goal is the same: a horse that is forward and balanced. Now, with 20 years of horsemanship behind me, I’m ready to teach and share why horses mean so much to me.

In The Irons is growing! And we’re looking for another riding instructor to join our team!

We’re searching for a talented, dependable instructor who enjoys helping riders build confidence, improve their skills, and celebrate those wonderful moments when everything finally *clicks* :)

The ideal person can teach hunter/jumper and/or dressage, has a soft spot for beginners (we have plenty!), and is also comfortable helping more experienced riders continue to progress.

They also understand that “riding instructor” often means coach, cheerleader, problem-solver, schedule juggler, lesson-horse advocate, and “finder of the fly mask” (again).

We provide safe, experienced lesson horses, three arenas (two lighted), wonderful clients, and a friendly barn environment.

If you’re a knowledgeable horse person with a solid foundation in correct riding and horsemanship—and you’re POSITIVE, level-headed, encouraging, safety-conscious, and genuinely enjoy teaching—we’d love to hear from you!

CORRIVAL FLOOD RELIEF BENEFIT — FUN OBSTACLE CLASS

After last week’s devastating flooding forced Corrival Ranch to evacuate, we were grateful to be able to open our doors and provide a safe temporary home for their horses during an incredibly difficult time. We’re glad to have them here while Corrival begins the work of recovering and determining what comes next, and we’re proud to stand beside our fellow horse people.

Now we’re inviting the local horse community to come together for a fun obstacle class supporting Corrival Ranch and the horses in its care.

Ages 5–12. Camp runs 9 AM–2 PM each day. Campers ride, learn horsemanship, spend time with the horses, and have a fun week at the barn.

You Asked. We Listened. Intermediate Horse Camp 2 is happening!
Several parents asked us to offer another Intermediate Horse Camp, so we added one more week:
Intermediate Horse Camp 2
July 20–24
9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
In The Irons Equestrian Center
This camp is for riders who are ready for a little more — more riding, more horse care, more confidence-building, and more fun with other horse-loving kids.
Minimum experience level: strong walk/trot rider. Riders should be able to steer, post the trot, maintain spacing, and ride independently in a group. Cantering experience is helpful but not required.
We currently have a small group signed up, and we’d love to add a few more riders to make this a great week. If your child has been wanting more saddle time this summer, this is the one!

Summer isn’t over yet — and horse camp is still enrolling!
Horse camp: because “go outside and do something” sounds better when horses are involved.
At ITI camps, kids ride, groom, learn, laugh, get dirty, build confidence, and come home tired in the very best way.
