After a month in Andros we came to spend some days with my family in Kea.

This summer went by too fast and this time towards the end of it is always difficult for me. I love the change of seasons as they can often feel refreshing, but if I could live in endless summer I definitely would. I love the heat and the freedom it brings. Walking barefoot & wearing minimal clothing. Swimming and the sound of cicadas all day. Nothing more soothing to the nervous system than the Greek summer.

This winter was heavy for me and I experience some anxiety in the thought of another cold season ahead. I am hoping that now that we have a house in Andros we will get to spend more time away from the city. Winter is always sweeter when spending more time outdoors. Unfortunately our home there is not geared at all for the cold, so that is the main reason we are not planning on staying there the whole year round.

One step at a time…
The time will eventually come.

Two weeks have flown by on the island. Time feels strangely distorted here. I find myself moving between moments of deep presence and aliveness, and moments of complete exhaustion that motherhood brings. No one really tells you just how hard it can be.

These days, we hardly have any time to ourselves. And yet, even when it feels like I’m barely keeping up, I know I’ll look back at this time with so much tenderness.

We are one step closer to our dream—we have found a home outside the city. We do not own it, but it is a truly special home that has stood here for almost 200 years.

I often find myself wondering about the people who lived here before us and the stories these walls have witnessed. For a little while, we get to become part of its history, adding our own small chapter to the life of this old home.

Colibri Spirit Festival has truly been the highlight of my summer — a time I know I’ll carry in my heart forever.

This festival felt, in many ways, like stepping into another realm. Surrounded by so many open-hearted souls, I felt at home from the very beginning.

It reminded me so much of the time I spent in India, surrounded by my own “tribe”—people who shared similar spiritual values, a deep sense of connection, and a vision for a more beautiful world.

My only regret is not staying for the entire festival. I had decided to go on my own so I could fully immerse myself in the experience for as long as I was there. It was actually my first solo trip since giving birth to Annalou!!

Once I arrived however, I realized what a beautiful place it was for families. Seeing so many of them together made me miss my own, and I couldn’t help but wish they were there to experience it with me.

Those two days flew by, yet they were enough for me to return home feeling deeply transformed…

Thank you, Colibri Spirit Festival for inviting me to be part of this beautiful gathering. It was truly an honor, and I’m already looking forward to the next one. 🤍

This summer myself & my husband will be teaching on the island of Andros. As yoga retreats become increasingly expensive and inaccessible for many people, we wanted to create something different — a way to weave yoga naturally into a summer holiday experience. Rather than the structured and often confined format of a traditional retreat, we’ll simply be holding space for people to practice with us while still enjoying the island freely, in their own rhythm and their own space.

The classes will be taking place in two spaces.

WE DANCE -VARVARA SPANOU in Andros Town from 20/07 - 26/07 & 03/08 - end of the month.

in Agios Petros from 27/07 - 02/08

Daily morning Ashtanga Yoga classes (excluding Saturdays) in a traditional yet non-dogmatic format (Mysore practice for those aware of the sequences & led classes for those new to it).

Enjoying every moment of the time that we have here. It has been a blessing to be able to come to my husband’s home and spend a month here with him and his family. I don’t know when we will have the chance to come back here again, so I am savouring every moment. No matter how many times I come here, I am always blown away by the beauty of this place and its lush nature.

Taking some time off most of my work has also been very much needed. I am finally connecting with my practice, practicing with Kyle’s teacher and friends and visiting different studios in town.

From Greece all the way to Sonoma county’s redwoods…

We will be spending the next month here in the US visiting Kyle’s friends & family. This is probably going to be our last long trip before the baby comes, so it’s surely going to be a special one !
