This November, Florida voters will be asked to consider Amendment 3, a substantial expansion of Florida’s homestead exemption that could reduce local government revenues that support cultural funding, public facilities, and quality-of-life initiatives that make Boca Raton such a vibrant and desirable place to live. Community facilities, parks, libraries, and arts and cultural organizations like Boca Ballet Theatre could be at risk if significant reductions in local revenues force elected officials to reevaluate spending priorities.
With these stakes in mind, Boca Ballet Theatre believes it is vital for the general public to understand how local government funding supports arts and culture initiatives so that voters can make the best decision for the kind of community they want to call home. For this reason, we are sharing a helpful guide created by the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County, which provides helpful information about how local government funding supports arts and culture organizations, what could be at risk in Palm Beach County if local government revenues decline, and what will happen to arts and cultural funding if the property tax amendment passes.
We believe an informed electorate will play an important role in determining the future not only of arts organizations like Boca Ballet Theatre but of our South Florida community as a whole. If you cherish the locally-funded facilities, initiatives, and organizations that contribute to the exceptional quality of life we enjoy here in Boca Raton, we hope you will read more about Amendment 3 in the link below!
