Florida Atlantic is leading a $5.7 million initiative to strengthen literacy and numeracy outcomes in high-need schools while preparing educators to use artificial intelligence effectively and responsibly.

In partnership with the Florida Department of Education, Broward County Public Schools and Miami Dade College, LEAP-AI will help strengthen the educator pipeline, expand professional development and create new opportunities for teachers and school leaders.

Florida Atlantic University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science, in collaboration with D-Wave Quantum Inc., has received a $200,000 cooperative agreement from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology.

The project will prepare students and professionals for emerging cybersecurity challenges associated with quantum computing and power systems infrastructure through hands-on training, curriculum development and career pathways.

Florida Atlantic's College of Engineering and Computer Science recently welcomed 250 high school students to its Boca Raton campus for the annual “Engineer Your Future Day,” giving students an opportunity to explore engineering and computer science through hands-on demonstrations, laboratory experiences, and interactions with faculty and current students.

A.D. Henderson University School and Florida Atlantic University High School were ranked No. 1 both in the nation and in Florida among “Best Public K-12 Schools,” in Niche’s 2027 rankings. The recognition marks the first time that FAU Lab Schools have earned the nation’s top ranking out of the 1,903 schools evaluated across the nation by Niche, the largest website for researching public and private K-12 schools.

Florida Atlantic University and Blue Ops, a maritime division of Red Cat Holdings, Inc., have established a strategic partnership that will bring the company’s uncrewed maritime systems operations to Florida Atlantic's Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in Fort Pierce, creating a hub for research, development, testing, training and collaboration in ocean technology, autonomous systems and national defense.
