Find your voice, build confidence, and have fun doing it!

This interactive 6-week lab gives students a chance to practice speaking, communicating, leading, and thinking on their feet in a relaxed, encouraging environment.

Through improv, friendly debates, team challenges, games, presentations, and leadership activities, students will practice expressing their ideas, working with others, and becoming more comfortable speaking in front of a group.

This isn't about perfect speeches or sitting through lectures. It's about doing. Students will laugh, collaborate, take some risks, and discover that public speaking can actually be fun.

Great for confident speakers AND students who would rather not speak in front of anyone at all. 😊

We’re so excited to welcome Abegay to the Tapestry Academy team as an Academic Guide for our High School Cohort! Abegay brings such an amazing mix of real-world experience, curiosity, leadership, and a genuine love of learning. She loves helping others figure things out, build confidence, and discover what works best for them—all things that fit so naturally with how we learn at Tapestry. We’re excited for our students to get to know her this year!

Here's a little more about Alia, in her own words:

Abegay is an attorney, entrepreneur, and lifelong learner who is passionate about helping young people build the confidence, curiosity, and skills they need to succeed both academically and beyond the classroom.

Abegay earned her Juris Doctor from Florida International University College of Law and has built a diverse professional career that includes practicing trademark and bankruptcy law, leading a legal team, running her own law firm, and founding an operations consulting business. Throughout her career, she has discovered that some of the work she enjoys most is mentoring others, breaking down complex ideas, solving problems, and helping people develop the skills and systems they need to succeed.

Abegay believes that students thrive when they are encouraged to discover how they learn best, think independently, build confidence in their abilities, and take ownership of their growth. She is excited to bring her professional experience, curiosity, and love of learning to the students at Tapestry Academy.

Outside of work, Abegay is an avid reader (especially fantasy fiction), loves playing pickleball, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and is almost always in the middle of a good book.

Homeschool Commons | Tapestry Academy Tapestry Homeschool Commons is a one-day-per-week drop-off enrichment program designed for homeschool students ages 5–16. Students participate in rotating hands-on classes, outdoor activities, and community-building experiences in a safe, welcoming environment.

We're thrilled to announce that Soccer Shots will be leading our Homeschool PE classes on Wednesdays at Tapestry Homeschool Commons, hosted at the Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton!

Soccer Shots aims to build character, skills and confidence while also having a whole lot of FUN. It's NOT just soccer either!

This is exactly the kind of exciting, high-quality enrichment we envisioned when creating Homeschool Commons—bringing together some of South Florida's best homeschool programs in one place, one day each week.

✨ We’re getting ready for a NEW school year! ✨

This week has been all about building foundations—not just for learning, but for trust, connection, and community. ❤️

We welcomed our new guides and spent time getting to know one another over delicious food, supporting local businesses, trying something new together, and even squeezing in a little relaxation with a foot massage!

And then… we got to work! 🙌

📝 Practiced Connect Time
✍️ Wrote an IEW paper using a Key Word Outline
🎨 Added our own creative touches and decorations
📂 Prepped binders and materials
🤝 Practiced the rhythms and routines that make our days at Tapestry special

So much was accomplished—and just as importantly, we started building the relationships that will carry us through the year.

The guides are ready. The spaces are ready. The binders are ready. And we are SO ready to welcome our students on Monday! 🎉
