Reminder: Today at 4:00 PM in AH 105, our colleague Yolanda Gamboa will be taking part in a round table panel discussion entitled “Struggles for Domination: Negotiating Power in Early American Empires.”

The panel will feature lively conversation between Dr. Yolanda Gamboa (LLCL), Dr. Adrian Finucane (History), and Dr. Jason Sharples (History). In considering the ways in which power operated in early American empires, these three scholars will draw on research on conflict between European empires, between empires and native groups, and conflict within and across empires, as people negotiated power relations of race, gender, and economic position. Discussion will center on how power relations functioned in ways that reflect their imperial location, and how the limits and opportunities of empire influenced the expression of power.

We hope to see many of you there!
