In this video, JP demonstrates one of the sequences our Kids Competition Team works on: pulling guard into collar-and-sleeve, transitioning to the tripod sweep, knee-cut pass, chest-on-chest control, knee-on-belly, mount, and finishing with an armbar.

One more benefit of homeschooling our kids: we created a weekly schedule that allows us to train together as a family every Friday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Today, Zyon practiced with his mom a sequence we worked on this week: hip escape, single leg, takedown, guard pass, and taking the back. But more important than any technique is the connection we build on the mat. Watching my son train with my wife and sharing the sport we love as a family is truly a dream come true. ❤️🥋

In this video, I’m going to show you Basic Reposition #1, starting with resetting the guard. From there, we transition to the single leg, drive our head into the ribs to off-balance our opponent, squeeze our legs to keep the foot trapped between them, take three steps backward, and finish with the takedown. This is the sequence I taught today in our 6:15 p.m. class for kids ages 10 to 13.

Yesterday I showed our Kids Competition Team an intermediate guard retention sequence. As the opponent starts passing, we reset the position, recover the guard and enter the deep De La Riva. From there, we sweep, come on top, transition into the leg drag and finish in a strong position ready to pass. Simple sequence, but with a lot of important details.
