Graduation season is filled with meaningful moments, proud families, and lots of celebration.

A thoughtful approach helps to keep the focus on each graduate as their name is called and their moment is recognized.

The most polished choice allows everyone in the room to enjoy the experience together.

It is First Communion season and a big moment for Catholic families!

The etiquette rests in showing proper reverence for the sacrament while celebrating the child with grace.

The occasion:
First Communion marks the first time a child receives the Eucharist, typically around age 7–8. It is a sacred sacrament and therefore calls for a tone of dignity, respect, and quiet celebration.

Dress etiquette
Children receiving:
• Girls: white dresses, often accompanied by a veil or headpiece
• Boys: suits or formal dress attire, traditionally in white or navy.
• Guests: Dress as one would for Sunday Mass
Attire should be modest, polished, and understated
Avoid anything overly casual, including denim, sneakers, or bold prints

Gift etiquette
When offering a gift, one should select something thoughtful and appropriate to the sacred nature of the occasion. Gifts need not be extravagant, but they should reflect the significance of the day.
Appropriate gift ideas include:
• A cross necklace or bracelet
• A rosary or prayer book
• A personalized keepsake box
• A Bible or devotional book
• A monetary gift accompanied by a handwritten card

A First Communion is best honored with reverence and sincere good wishes and is a celebration of faith above all else.
