Today’s Lag B’Omer celebration was filled with fun! We had a glow-in-the-dark dance party, made s’mores around a mini campfire, and had a field day with Dr. Green! The field day activities included a water balloon toss, long jump, football toss, and collaborative games - we were all winners! We ended the day signing each other’s shirts and getting our prizes

Israel Day was one for the books! Tamim got their passports and boarding passes ready before taking off to Israel. We sang, danced, and were greeted with chocolate milk before visiting a Shuk. We practiced using shekalim, learned about the different parts of Israel and even had a special lunch of falafel, pita, hummus, and Israeli salad. Then, we visited three cities in Israel: we painted with an artist in Tzfat, we made our own salt scrub in the Dead Sea, and wrote letters at the Kotel in Jerusalem. We made a 3D map of Israel’s topography... and we will all sleep well tonight! What a day of fun!

Today, we used , pipe cleaners, homemade dice with addition and subtraction on it, and our ThinkPad to play a game called “Race to 10”. It was deliciously delightful! We also practiced our addition and subtraction with dominoes and puzzles.

“This fall, in the midst of the pandemic, four Jewish day schools opened in cities up and down the East Coast. Almost no one noticed.
But the parents, teachers, and directors of the fledgling Tamim Academies knew that this was the beginning of something much bigger.

Thank you for another great visit! We have been learning all about animals: food chains, habitats, etc. Today, as scientists, we dissected an owl pellet and found bones inside! We also saw a real birds nest and created our own. “This was the best experiment” said one student as we were walking back to class. We truly instill the love of learning here at Tamim!

Introducing addition and subtraction with is fun and simple! We started by sorting pictures into two groups: joining and removing. Then, we chose some of those pictures to turn into stories. Those stories help us understand the foundation of operations.
