In these challenging times the Boardman Local School District has maintained excellence in its academic, athletic and arts programs in spite of decreased funding from the State of Ohio. A non-profit organization providing funding for projects which help students develop their talents and interests, helping to further their educational experiences.

Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence Welcomes New Board Members

Boardman, OH-- The Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence (BSFEE) welcomes two new members to its Board of Directors: Heather Belgin and Anissa Kalbasky.

Belgin is a proud parent of two sons currently in the district, and is a member of the Boardman Track and Cross Country Boosters, serving as secretary for the past three years. She is the Director of Alumni Engagement at Youngstown State University.

Kalbasky is a past PTA president with a son and a daughter in the district. She is a marketing specialist and graphic designer with JPAR Real Estate.

The Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence is a non-profit organization that awards teachers grant monies for classroom projects that go beyond the scope of those funded by the school district’s educational budget. Thanks to the generous support of the Boardman community and the Boardman Education Association, they have awarded more than $100,000 since the group’s inception in 2009.

Boardman Schools Reverse Raffle Set for March 10–

Tickets Available Now

Boardman, OH-- The Boardman Schools Fund For Educational Excellence 8th Annual Reverse Raffle Event will be held on Friday, March 10 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center. Thirty teachers representing nearly twenty teacher wish list projects will be honored as part of a night of fun and fundraising.

The Reverse Raffle is the main fundraiser for BSFEE, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. The event raises tens of thousands of dollars to help provide Boardman teacher mini grants that have been creative and innovative additions to Boardman classrooms for more than a decade.

“These teacher grants help give our Spartans experiences that go beyond what is provided by state and local funding,” said BSFEE Board President Lynda Beichner. “Our Reverse Raffle helps to fund projects like an aluminum greenhouse for science studies, flexible seating, materials to build a recycling hub, and social emotional supplies for a new SEL Center in the district.”

Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Mr. Anthony’s. There will be a series of cash prizes given away during the course of the evening. The final ticket drawn at the end of the night will be worth $2,000!

Tickets are $60 and are available by contacting the Superintendent’s Office at 330-726-3404, emailing [email protected], or finding the invitation on BSFEE’s website at boardmanschoolsfund.com. Reservation deadline is February 20.

Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence Welcomes New Board Members

Boardman, OH-- Happy New Year!! 🎉

The Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence (BSFEE) welcomes two new members to its Board of Directors: Center Intermediate School teacher Megan Turillo, and Carl Greenaway, Jr.

Greenaway is a 1995 Boardman High School graduate and proud father of a recent BHS graduate and a current Spartan. He is the Director of Business Development at HBK CPAs & Consultants.

Megan Turillo serves as a “teacher representative” on the Board. Megan is currently in her 30th year of teaching in the Boardman Schools and is a 3-time BSFEE grant winner herself. She and her husband Jerry, (also a Boardman teacher) are the proud parents of two Boardman graduates.

The Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence is a non-profit organization that awards teachers grant monies for classroom projects that go beyond the scope of those funded by the school’s educational budget. Thanks to the generous support of the Boardman community and the Boardman Education Association, they have awarded nearly $90,000 since the group’s inception in 2009.

2022 BSFEE Promo 09/21/2022

As you know, Boardman Schools has a long tradition of excellence in Academics, Arts and Athletics. What you might not know, is each year teachers have the opportunity to strengthen that tradition by applying for a grant to the Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence (BSFEE). These grant dollars supplement the school’s curriculum and enable teachers to offer students experiences that go beyond what is provided by state and local funding.

A few of the many outstanding experiences have included:

Social/Emotional Wellness Equipment, hands-on books, cards, and additional tools geared toward elementary students learning to regulate emotions and behavior.

Trail Cameras, allowing fifth through eighth grade students to observe and study local park ecosystems from their own classrooms.

Mobile Sky Imaging and Observation Workstation, an intelligent telescope with camera to be used for science studies at the high school level.

Save the date! Our Annual Reverse Raffle will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center.
