On the website, I list my priorities for the college, how I plan to achieve them, a college humor page with family-friendly jokes, a cartoon about what was popular in 1967, and a video featuring woodland animals that are voting. The video shows how the votes are counted in a "block" voting system, which is what we have when you vote for PVCC, PVUSD, and City Council members. The video shows how even a single vote can change the outcome in this type of voting (block) system. Make your voice heard and vote November 3, 2026. Come to the Board meetings., Find out what is happening at the college. The next Board Meeting is scheduled for October 13, 2026, at the Palo Verde Community College. It will begin at 4 p.m. with a closed session, followed by an open session. The open session usually begins at approximately 5:00 p.m. Tell the Board what you want for and from the college. Have ideas for how the college can offer the classes you want? Want to comment on the expenditure of funds? Tell the board what you want. You can also write to the Board members collectively or individually. Give your letter(s) and note(s)to the Secretary of the Board or place them in the mailbox at the college. Vote for Scott Dean, Board of Trustees at Palo Verde Community College. Finally, it was a pleasure to have an interview on KERU radio. Machi was very friendly. I think she is providing a great service to the community. I would like to say I have never been on the radio before, but that would not be true. My wife and I have HAM Radio licenses, and we have been on the air on FCC-designated HAM frequencies. Someone in the community complained that I had read my answers to the questions. This is not completely true. This is what happened: Machi had sent me the questions she was going to give me, so I wrote down answers. They were multifaceted questions with three or four points that required answers. I wrote the answers so I would not forget any of the important information the questions asked about. I do not think there is anything wrong with being prepared. I did not want to miss any important points because I think transparency matters and you need complete answers to the questions. These were likely questions you may have had yourself. Also, I did not use notes for some questions that she asked during the interview that were not given to me in advance. These questions were about when the election is (November 3, 2026) and my concerns about the college (fiduciary—money), sports, and the student population increase. The next Palo Verde Community College Board of Trustees meeting is Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Palo Verde College, One College Drive in Blythe. The open session begins at 5:00 p.m. in Room CL 101.

Come to the meeting to learn more about the college and see how the Board is managing it. Make your voice heard. Tell the Board what you want from your local college, share ideas to improve the college, and ask questions about how taxpayer money is budgeted.

Tomorrow is an important day for Palo Verde College. On August 25, 2026, the Palo Verde Community College District Board of Trustees will choose one of three candidates to serve as the college’s next Superintendent/President.

The Board is the only body authorized to employ or dismiss the Superintendent/President. This means, above all, that the Superintendent/President is an employee of the Board and works under its direction and supervision.

This position is critical because the Superintendent/President leads the college’s day-to-day operations and implements the policies and direction established by the Board. This individual will help shape the college’s academic quality, financial stability, workplace culture, community relationships, and commitment to student success.

Selecting the right person is therefore one of the most consequential responsibilities entrusted to the Board. Tomorrow, we must exercise that responsibility carefully and thoughtfully, with the long-term interests of our students, employees, college, and community foremost in our minds.

Each candidate met privately with the Board and answered our interview questions. Before those interviews, each candidate also participated in a public question-and-answer forum. Those forums were open to the public and are available to watch on YouTube.

If you were unable to attend the forums, I encourage you to watch the recordings and decide which candidate you believe would be best for Palo Verde College. The next Superintendent/President must be able to work effectively with the Board, college employees, students, and the greater Blythe community.

Tomorrow’s meeting will include a closed session, during which members of the public cannot be present for the Board’s deliberations. However, before the Board enters closed session, members of the public will have an opportunity to address the Board regarding the items listed on the agenda, including the selection of the next Superintendent/President.

Please come and tell us what you think. If you have a preferred candidate, explain whom you support and why. Public participation matters, and the Board should hear directly from the people it was elected to represent.

Tomorrow’s meeting is one of the most important meetings the Board will hold this year. It begins at 4:00 p.m. I encourage you to attend this meeting and future Board meetings, become informed about the decisions being made, and tell your elected representatives what you want for your college.

That is one of the central principles of representative government: elected officials must listen to the people they represent.

The Question and Answer sessions for each candidate were open to the public and are available to view on YouTube. Please watch the videos if you were not there, and then determine which candidate you think would be best for the college. Remember, the President/Superintendent will have to work with the public (the Blythe community) and staff (some of whom are very headstrong and overbearing).
The Board meeting wil be Closed Session Meeting, meaning the public cannot be in the meeting, but before it is announced as a Closed Sessionmeeting the public has the right and opportunity to address the Board and tell them anything concernoing the items on the agenda (in this case the main item is to chose a President/Superintendent), preferable whom you want to be the next President/Supoerintendent. The truth is, I think they (many of the other Board members) do not want you to come to the meeting(s) and talk to the Board. They are afraid of what you would think and say about how they are wasting your taxpayer money.
Come, be heard. Remember, you are the Board's boss. They need to know what you want, and if they do not give you what you want, then you can vote them out, which is coming soon. Remember to vote on November 3, 2026. Vote for me, Scott Dean, and only for me. This is the best way to ensure I win the election, continue representing the community of Blythe, and have your taxpayer money spent, or not, in a way that gets what you want for the college. Come to the Board meeting tomorrow afternoon to share your opinions and preferences regarding who the Board should vote to become the next President/Superintendent of Palo Verde Community College.

My priorities are simple: support student success, support our employees, promote fiscal responsibility and transparency, and strengthen the connection between the college and our community.

I’ll use this page to explain important Board actions, share why certain decisions matter, and highlight the good work happening at Palo Verde College.

Yesterday the Board of Trustees at PVCC voted Yes unanimously to send a PVCC teacher on a tax payer paid vacation to Germany to attend a "Gender and Sexuality" conference.

My name is Scott Dean. I am fiscally conservative. I have seen the college’s budget, and the amount of money PVC is spending, I want to reduce this spending of taxpayer money. The PVC Board of Trustees needs to focus on spending taxpayer money on the needs of PVC students over administrator wants.

Reducing the taxpayer’s expenses at the college is one of my top priorities. I also want to address, discuss, and change questionable policies that the college has had for years.

It is time for a change at PVC, and this only happens by electing new PVC Trustees.

Vote for Scott Dean and Kati Cusick (write-in candidate) on November 8 for Palo Verde Community College Board of Trustees.
