Good morning on this very beautiful morning! Today I have a little story to tell you (at the end you will see how it fits in here). When Ron was alive we began our time together without any pets. He didn't believe in in-door pets. I did. This is a long sweet story so I will just tell you the short version. ( see the long version in one of my new books). A sweet little gray cat adopted us. But Ron would not allow him in the house. The cat wanted inside in a bad way and here is where it gets interesting. He would "launch" up onto the screen of the window and hang there until we let him in. So what does this have to do with anything here? We are going to launch our completely redone website in the next couple days. This little gray cat will be sitting right next to me when it happens. Will you join us for our launch party? I will keep you posted. It's almost here! When it happens we would truly love it if you would visit and comment, critique, suggest and basically let us know what you think. See you soon!

Hi all, Oh my what a rainy and rather gloomy day. Yup another day to curl up with a good book. Here are a few I have read and can report to you. Let me know if you have interest in any or all of them. private message would be fine.
Rickshaw Girl by Mitali Perkins A shorter read with larger print for the younger child. A young girl who loves to paint designs wishes to help earn money for her family. How can she help? Girls in Bangladesh aren't suppose to work outside the house. Hmm what can she do to help?

Caps for Sale - by Esphyr Slobodkina. To be read aloud to the child or an early reader. Sweet story of a peddler, monkeys and oh my monkey business. See what happens when a peddler takes a nap and all his caps disappear.

Summer of my German Soldier - Caution - there is language in this book I would not approve for young children.
German soldiers who have been captured are help in this town. What are the locals supposed to do with all this happening in their town.

The Wheel of the School by Meindert DeJong This is an absolutely delightful story about a little Dutch town. Oh my what do storks and wheels have to do with each other? Find in this story how a teacher asks a few questions, and the students go to great lengths to answer the questions. Can they woo the storks back to their village? I love this book!

The Captive by Joyce Hansen - Tricked by a friend, captured by slave traders, forced into labor...will Kofi ever get free? Told from the perspective of the slave but one who keeps a positive perspective regardless of circumstances.

Vinegar Boy - by Alberta Hawse. This is an absolutely wonderful story. A boy who wants a miracle from Jesus finds himself forced to carry the vinegar to be offered to the three on the cross. This is a dramatic telling of his encounter with Christ on the cross..
I dearly love this book. But it might make you cry.

Good morning on this day before Christmas Eve. Been so foggy the last few mornings, a beautiful time to curl up with a good book. (well if I had time - ha). I have pumpkin pies done, apple pies done, no cookies baked yet but the dough is in frig ready to roll. So much to do but before I get rolling; here are a couple, well actually three titles for you to consider for your kiddoes.

Wagon Wheels by Barbara Brenner. This is a true story of traveling west in the early days of our country. The Muldee boys and their father travel west from Kentucky to Kansas only to find everything isn't quite what they expected. Now what will they do?
age - an "I Can Read" level 3 grade 2-4

Adoniram Judson, God's Man in Burma by Sharon Hambrick
This is the true story of Judson and his wife, Ann as they follow God's calling to faraway Burma regardless of the cost.

The King's Fifth by Scott O'Dell
Read this exciting story set during the time of the conquistadors. The king gets 20 percent - that's a fifth- as a tax on all. Yikes that is a lot. This is a great story about hidden treasure, greed, consequences. Who will find the treasure? And what are the consequences to each involved?

Have a great day as you prep for the celebration the earthly birth of our precious Lord. If you have time, take a break from the hustle and bustle, sit, have a cup of tea, and read a good book. mmmm curling up with a good book. Delicious and restful.

My but we have had crazy rain and incredible winds the last few days. But I've been busy reading so I can report to you. Today I will list more than the usual three as I have gotten ahead of my self with reading and behind with posting.

Mary Bloody Mary by Carolyn Meyer - True story of a crazy time in British history. Feuding between brother, and sisters for the crown. This tells the story of Mary Tudor, daughter of Henry VIII.
age range - 12=16

Mr Revere and I - by Robert Lawson. An account of Paul Revere as told by his horse. Some funny things and some great history in the telling.
age range 10-12

Jo's Boys by Louisa M Alcott - the 4th and last book about the March family. Read about Mrs Jo and Mrs Meg and their children.
age range 10-14

The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy - set during the French revolution, a cunning masked hero rescues would-be victims of the guillotine. Will he be discovered? An exciting read.

By the great horn Spoon by Sid Fleischman. This is a gold rush adventure story. Follow along as ten year old Jack and his butler try to make it big to save their home.

Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren; This beloved story is about a spunky young girl and her escapades. What? a monkey in the story? Yes for sure!

Guns for general Washington by Seymour Reit. Will at nineteen, is frustrated with no action in Washington's army. This story relies on first person accounts - amazing and informative.
age range 12-16

Cyrano De Bergerac by Edmond Rostand; This Oxford World's Classics takes us through this famous play. Delight to read and discover what happens in this Very Famous story.

Brr what a cold day! Just the kind of day to sit curled up with a book. Here are some great ones, with a short blurb, a suggested age range, and where you might find them. Have fun reading!

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, This story is set in 1943 where the Jews are hunted down by the N***s. Families are torn apart! Neighbors try to help. Read to find out how Annamarie and Ellen must keep secrets to keep families safe. Can they do it?

Calico Captive - by Elizabeth George Speare. Based on a true story from an actual diary published on 1807, this story recounts pieces from our history. Miriam and her family are taken captive. What will their lives be now?

Cyrano De Bergerac by Edmond Rostand - This famous play tells of a man (with a terribly awful nose) who falls in love but is at a loss what to do about it. He thinks because of his looks no one can love him. Read this well known story to discover what prevails.

The Black Arrow - by Robert Louis Stevenson. this story is set in the 1400's during the war of the Two Roses. Young Master Richard Shelton attempts to outwit the treacherous knight who killed his father and to rescue the fair maiden. Courage, loyalty, and honor are all challenged.

Sarah, Plain and Tall by Patricia MacLachlan- This story is set n the early years of our country out on the prairie. As a young family tries to figure out life when the mom dies, there are so many needs on the prairie that are compounded with out a mom in the picture. How does Sarah figure into this story? Good morning to all of you. Thanksgiving is now past, Christmas lies ahead and there is schooling yet between. Are you looking for some good reading material for your young one? Here are a few titles, a short blurb and where you may be able to find them. Enjoy and let me know if you want more or different.

Adam of the Road by Elizabeth Janet gray.
Eleven year old Adam loves to travel the open road with his father. Set in thirteenth-century England, this story about a boy, Adam, his dog, Nick and his father, a traveling minstrel will delight you as you read of the adventures. Dad goes missing, and the dog gets stolen and Adam does his best to find them both. Read to find out the end of the story.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas -
Edmond Dantes is soon to be married and soon to captain his own ship. But - jealousy and greed by someone in his life, cause him to be unjustly arrested and imprisoned for life. Read this classic which is filled with adventure. Find out if he escapes or dies in prison.

The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway
This classic is a must read! This is about courage in the face of defeat, of personal triumph won from loss. Does the old man triumph? Does the young boy give up on him? Oh you must read this to find out.
