The State of Missouri requires additional vaccines for all 8th grade (Tdap and MCV4) and 12th grade (MCV4) students before the school year starts. If your student has received these vaccines, please upload their health record on the Health Form in PowerSchool or drop a copy off at your student’s school.

The Tdap and MCV4 vaccines can be given at a doctor’s office, through the health department, and at local pharmacies, such as CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, etc. Please make sure you present a copy of this post to show what vaccination is needed, as there is more than one type of Meningitis vaccine.

For your convenience, BSSD will be hosting a Back-To-School Vaccine Clinic in coordination with Jackson County Public Health. The clinic will be held at Blue Springs High School on August 10, from 8-11 a.m. and 12-2 p.m.

Reserve your spot online by August 5. Walk-ins are also welcome while supplies last.

All 8th graders need updated immunizations to start school in August. Check out this opportunity to get those done on June 23.

BSSD has partnered with Jackson County Public Health to host a TDAP (for 8th graders) and MCV4 (for 8th and 12th graders) vaccine clinic at Blue Springs High School on June 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and Noon to 2:00 p.m. Vaccines are available free of charge with accepted insurance or $20 without insurance.

Friday is the last day of school! PKMS will release at 11:50 am.

Last Day of School Reminder:

The last day of school is Friday, May 22, and it will be an early release day. Our School and Nutritional Services staff will serve sack lunches* before students are dismissed for the day. Bus riders will ride their assigned bus home. Prime Time after-school care will be available for students enrolled in the program.

We are so proud of our student of the month!!

Paul Kinder Middle School Eighth Grader Carissa L. is BSSD's April Student of the Month.

Carissa maintains a 4.0 GPA and serves as president of National Junior Honor Society, participates in advanced band, jazz band, speech and debate, theater, and is a member of the Grizzly TV crew.

Principal Dr. Alicia Leimkuehler describes Carissa as “an exceptional student who leads with integrity, kindness, and purpose. Everything she does is done with intention and a commitment to excellence. Carissa loves to represent PKMS and is a great example of the leadership, character, and positivity we strive to cultivate in all our students.”
