I realized recently that we don't talk much about my background here at Kreeayt.
I've been teaching art for 26 years in various capacities. Before Kreeayt, I spent 8 years as a gallery director, worked as a professional artist, juried the Plaza Art Fair, and even had the opportunity to create a mural at Kansas City’s Union Station.
I also served on the Missouri Fine Arts Standards Review Workgroup, helping shape the standards used to teach art in our state since 2018.
But more than any of those things, I'm just really passionate about the arts, arts education, and believe creativity is a really important part of being human.
And honestly, that's a big part of why I care so much about what happens in the Kreeayt classroom.
I don't want kids and teens to just make something that looks good and take it home.
I want them to learn how to actually see art. To understand color and composition. To try things that might not work. To find their own style. And to feel that little spark when they realize, “Wait… I actually made this.”
These are some of the paintings my students have created.
I'm really proud of them.
And I'm excited to see what this next group of young artists creates. ❤️🎨
