Celebrating International Nurses Week in New Zealand this year!

On May 6th I visited the Te Papa Museum of New Zealand where I visited the "Gallipoli: Scale of Our War" exhibit that recognized New Zealand heroes of that war including nurses. Very moving. At the end of the Te Papa's Gallipol exhibit is a water station that serves as a cleansing ritual, a Maori tradition practiced after being in the presence of the deceased or after witnessing a traumatic event. It's an opportunity for visitors to symbolically cleanse themselves and acknowledge the profound emotions evoked by the exhibit. The red poppy given out symbolizes
remembrance.
