Cook County School District 130 staff participated in a Teacher Institute Day before the start of school with a shared focus on student achievement. Building administrators led learning experiences that strengthened instructional practices and helped teams prepare to support every student throughout the 2026-2027 school year.

Everett F. Kerr Middle School welcomed students back for the 2026-2027 school year. Staff members came together to make the first day a positive and welcoming experience, greeting students and helping them settle in for the year ahead. To help maintain a safe learning environment, starting with the 2026–2027 school year, middle school students who bring a water bottle to school must use a clear, transparent bottle filled with plain water only. Please note that this policy applies to middle school students and does not apply to elementary school students.

Checklist:

✅ Clear, transparent plastic or reusable bottles
✅ Plain water only
✅ Lids that seal tightly to help prevent spills

❌ No metal tumblers, glass, or solid/tinted bottles
❌ No stickers or coverings that prevent the bottle's contents from being visible
