5th and 6th graders had such a fun time at a recent workshop with the Tape Art street art collective at Blue Hill Public Library. They used colored tape to create mural art directly onto the walls of the library. If you haven't seen it yet, stop by the library before the end of the month to see work by our students and students from other area schools. Thank you so much Blue Hill Public Library!

Whither shall I follow, follow thee.... to the apple, apple tree. Students in Grades 1-8 travelled to a local orchard today to pick apples for the coming Apple Fest. So many apples were picked to make into c***r and sweet apple crisp. And according to tradition, there were votes for the biggest apple, the smallest, the most unusual. And this year, a new category.... the apple with the most heart.

Rise up oh flame, by thy light's glowing, show to us beauty, vision and joy..... our annual Michaelmas celebration focuses on the strength of light, love, and community to help us face our challenges. The morning started with song, a dragon was subdued, a hero story shared, and each class offered a verse or song. Then came a feast fit for the brave, followed by a beautiful hike through autumn colors. The light we gathered on this day will help to see us through the coming season of dark and cold.

In Handworks classes, students learn to knit, embroider, and sew, using natural materials to create objects of beauty and practical use. Through these projects, which increase in complexity throughout the grades, children engage deeply and with purpose, practice patience and problem solving, and experience a sense of accomplishment that comes from creating functional items with their own hands.

Our middle schoolers had their first painting class of the year on Friday. During a painting lesson, the teacher demonstrates technique, composition, and the interaction of colors while students follow along. And somehow each final work is as unique as the child who created it.
