Today we were using technology to show our “Math Learning.”

Students could use models, pictures, number tiles, number lines, math mountains, cubes, counters (all electronic representations).

It was so great to hear their “math talk” and how they explained their thinking and understanding. There was so much collaboration and teamwork!

I can’t even count how many times I heard: “Whoa,cool! How did you do that??”

Night Sky
Equations and pictuthat show partners for 10.

We are working on Partners for 10.
Today we made a “night sky” pucture with stars. Everyone got 10 stars. The students colored, cut and arranged their stars - some purple and some yellow- to make a group of 10. Students wrote an equation to go with their “night sky” picture.

We are building “Partners of 10” towers.
9+1, 8+2, 7+3, 6+4, 5+5, 4+6, 3+7, 2+8, 1+9, 0+10
Our towers have a very specific order. Students can telll if something doesn’t look quite right, that leads them to count, recount and problem solve!

We❤️ math!
