Class of 82, greetings to you all. I hope you are well.
A situation is brewing for our columbia montour vo tech and I would like to make you aware of it if you have not already heard. There has been ongoing publicity, which includes in today's press enterprise , of an interest of home schools to offer their vo tech students academic education at their home schools. This is gaining traction. All area schools are financially hurting with cutbacks to federal and state funding. And this is one area our home school administrators feel they could save money regardless of the effect on current vo tech students.
Making a vocational education just half day and eliminating all the extra curriculum in my mind would be a travesty. I think you would agree we are a closer group because of those relationships formed during all the extra activity we participated in and enjoyed. I hope it will continue.
So what can we do......make our voices heard. We always have been an active class and some almost 45 years later let's continue that by contacting our home schools and let them know how we feel. Write to our local newspaper and give them testimonies of how successful we have become because of our experience at vo tech. Join in with other vo tech classes who are packing local school board meetings and express your disgust that it's even a suggestion to do such a thing. We can make a difference. Hope to hear from you all......RAM POWER !
