I don't normally recommend "solar generators" because they're usually overpriced and underpowered. This one below is actually reasonably powerful at 1,210 Wh of energy and 1,200 W of power. Decent price for LiFePo4 batteries, an MPPT solar charge controller, and pure sine inverter. It would be hard for me to build one of similar quality from off-the-shelf parts for less than $655. The ones I designed for my students to build in class are a little less capable than this one, use a 432 Wh lead-acid gel battery, and cost about $450 to build. So a pre-built one with 3x the capacity at this price is not bad at all. Also you get free shipping and a warranty. This won't run your whole house (at least not for long), but it'll handle most small appliances for a fair bit of time. If you don't have any emergency backup power, this is a nice stop gap until you install a whole house battery/solar system. Also good for bugging out or just camping.

For anyone looking to protect your off-grid system or house from a potential high altitude nuclear electromagnetic pulse (EMP), you'll want to add ferrites to your wires on either side of any run longer than about a meter. Ferrites are a type of iron-containing ceramic material which resist electromagnetic fields (EMF). Because all electricity flow is coupled to an EMF in the perpendicular direction, stopping or slowing EMF with a ferrite will stop or slow the concomitant electricity flow in the wire. And this will protect your components from over-voltage or over-amperage as a result of the EMP.

Fair-Rite 43 material mix has the greatest impedance in the given frequency range, however, Fair-Rite 61 material mix has the greatest coercive field, giving it a super fast reaction time. The E1 pulse is extremely fast -- only 4.84 nanoseconds to peak output and around 100 ns to completion -- corresponding to the gyro-period of the Compton electrons in the geomagnetic field. So despite lower impedance at 100 MHz, 61 material is superior for EMP. However, you can add both 61 and 43 for maximal effect, which is what I've done.

The clamp-on ferrites are good for existing wire connections that you don't want to pull apart. The rings or beads are good for new installs where you can slide them on before making your connections.

Just make sure that the ones you order are big enough for your wire diameter.
