A 36-story rocket. A nearly 12,000-pound engine. Hand casts used to create gloves for the Apollo 11 astronauts.
These are among the treasures IU Indianapolis alumna Amelia Whitehead, MS’16, helps care for as museum collections manager at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. 🚀
Amelia first visited the center on a childhood class trip and remembers being in awe of its artifacts. Today, she draws on the skills and experiences she gained through IU Indianapolis’ Museum Studies Program to preserve remarkable objects and share the stories behind them.
Now, the artifacts that once sparked her imagination are helping her inspire the next generation.

Some opportunities change a college experience.
The best ones help shape the leaders our communities need.
