Join us in congratulating our 2026 Teacher of the Year honorees! All were honored at our awards ceremony earlier this month.

Jennifer Starnes brings a thorough, thoughtful approach to her fourth grade classroom at Lakeview Elementary, where each child feels valued and supported. She attends closely to the unique needs of her students, adapting her instruction year to year to meet individual learning styles and challenges. Her students consistently perform above state averages, and her ability to analyze data and adjust instruction drives strong, measurable academic growth throughout the school year. She actively participates in professional development and thoughtfully integrates new strategies into her teaching, ensuring her classroom instruction is always current and responsive. 📚✨

Jennifer connects with students beyond the classroom — chatting at recess, encouraging them during track laps — and takes the time to learn their likes, dislikes, and what motivates them. She has mentored student teachers, organized community-building activities for staff, and is the colleague everyone naturally seeks out for advice. As her nominator shared, "While we often focus on data and instructional practices, and Jennifer is certainly exemplary in these areas, what impresses me most is her heart and love for others. Her compassion and dedication leave a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to work with her." 💛👩‍🏫
