2025-2026 GRANT HIGHLIGHT
Teacher: Tori Drummy
School: Jackson Creek Middle School
Project: Making Language Study REAL - Qué Tal Magazine Subscription Grant

Ms. Drummy's grant paid for a subscription to a Spanish-language Scholastic magazine that connects students to real-world culture, current events, and vocabulary to support reading comprehension, cultural awareness and enthusiasm for language study.

Ms. Drummy says, "I feel so grateful and energized by the impact and interest that my students had throughout the rest of the school year. And the impact continues through the print editions that are still in my classroom for students this school year and beyond to use and deepen their understanding and interest in various cultures and global topics."
"'I actually can understand this!' was something that many students said to me... Other kids would comment on their ability to figure things out using the context clues and pictures intentionally placed within the magazine pages – without using a translation app! Watching the lightbulbs turning on over their heads as they experienced this was so fulfilling."

MCCSC employees - our first Grant Cycle for this school year closes Tuesday, September 8th.

Imagine a cool hands-on project, resources needed for your classroom or grade level, etc...

3. Provide a budget

Our amazing review team will read everything completely and make difficult decisions for support MCCSC teachers and students.

Thank you to the Orkin Team for their wonderful donation of back to school supplies - including these great back packs!

If you would like to help - specific back to school needs are back packs, healthy snacks for classrooms, socks, underwear, elastic waist pants or shorts, shoes, etc. We are blessed to have referendum funds to help with many supplies but these are items of need, especially in the elementary schools.

The Foundation has our Food Assistance program. This fund helps when kids do not have funds in their lunch account. At the start of the year this is especially challenging. Click donate on our website and select Food Assistance in the drop down on how to direct your support.

MCCSC Faculty - Get Ready! 2026-2027 Grant Applications open on July 1st! Relevant links in comments.

Last year, Shannon Lehr, Media Specialist at Rogers Elementary School, received a FMCCS grant for Chomp Saws to expand the Media Center's Maker Space. Chomp Saws are great for younger learners to use to cut thicker materials like cardboard safely and independently.

The Chomp Saw and maker tools were incorporated into weekly
maker sessions, classroom extension activities, and independent student projects. Students used the materials to create story settings and props, cardboard engineering builds, collaborative
structures, animal habitats, and other science-connected models.

Mrs. Lehr noted, "As an educator, this grant reinforced how valuable maker-centered learning can be for young students. The maker space became more than a creative area; it became a place
where students practiced resilience, communication, problem-solving, and innovation in their engagement and their sense of ownership in learning."

Educators - We can't wait to see what you come up with this year!

Great Day for Golf Fore Kids! We had 22 teams support our kids!! Thank you Cook Medical, CFC, CSO Architects, Weddle Brothers, Garmong, Blades Audio Video, and our Hole Sponsors Service Master, Indiana Members Credit Union, JA Benefits, Toshiba, IMA, Fanning Howey, RE Dimond, Electric Plus, German America. Congratulations to everyone. Winning Team is MCCSC, 2nd place is Cook Medical and 3rd Blade Audio Video.

Our 50/50 raffle went to Owen Country State Bank. Team!!

Thanks and we can’t wait to get these $$ into the classroom next year!!
