On April 14th, Jyothirmayi Katralapalli ( Director of Community Events) and Stef Ruzic ( Director of Professional Development) went to Bloomington North High School and gave a presentation to girls aged 10-13 ( grades 5 ad 6) about the importance of women in STEM courses.
The event was titled "GEMS-Girls in Engineering Math and Science" . They received some very thoughtful questions and clarified some misconceptions about women in STEM fields. The girls were motivated and inspired. WiT at Kelley MSIS hopes to host many more such events with GEMS in the future.

Women in Technology hosted a Community Volunteering Event this weekend where students from the MSIS program assisted the Monroe County Community Kitchen with meal preparation. This organization has a mission to eliminate hunger in Monroe County and surrounding areas. They rely heavily on volunteer support to help with meal preparation, backpack preparation and meal service for populations including the low-income working class, the underemployed or unemployed, individuals with disabilities, homeless individuals, pregnant or nursing mothers, and at-risk children.
At WiT, we believe that giving back to the community is imperative! Our participants enjoyed this event, as is evident from the pictures and we are glad we could provide a platform for a few of you to perform a good deed!
A big thank you to the Monroe County Community Kitchen for providing us with this opportunity, to the participants who took out time from their busy schedules and last but not the least, to the WiT Team!

Hello Hoosiers,
It has been an overwhelming summer, brimmed with new learning! We're sure everyone is all nerves about the upcoming Fall semester but we, at Women in Technology, are here to help you sail through it. We would like to announce our first event on Personal Development happening on 16th August, 2016. We have arranged for students interning at Deloitte, PwC, EY, IBM and Cook Medical to come converse with you all and provide necessary tips on choosing a specialization, gaining the upper edge in interviews, networking and career fairs. They would also be speaking about their experience at the respective companies and providing you all with in-depth information about these companies. They want to ensure that their juniors learn from their mistakes and experiences. There will be an intensive question and answer session post the conversation where you all can have your queries answered before facing some of the most challenging situations of your lives.
We hope this event will build some confidence in each of you and direct you all in the right direction.
Location: Kelley School of Business. Room - TBD.
Date: 16th August, 2016
Time: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (EST)
