The Supreme Court and Freedom of the Press, Oct. 17, 7 p.m.
The Center for International Media Law and Policy Studies will be hosting a webinar on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. called “The Supreme Court and Freedom of the Press.” Law professors RonNell Andersen Jones of the University of Utah and Sonja R. West of the University of Georgia will be discussing an empirical study they have done about the Court’s attitudes about press freedom over the Court’s entire history. They have identified the “golden eras” for press freedom and the not-so-golden eras, and they also have determined which individual justices have been most and least supportive of freedom of the press. Center Director Anthony Fargo will be doing a Q and A with them on Zoom, and questions from the audience will be welcome. The event will also be live-streamed on the IU Media School’s page and available there after the event.
Funding for the webinar will be provided by the Barbara Restle Press Law Project.
Admission is free, but registration is required to gain access to the Zoom webinar. Here is the link to the registration page: https://iu.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_oGS3iZdIRueyBo1XI9rekg
No registration is required for the Facebook live-stream.
