Spares and Pairs

May and June are the months for graduates and we have some of our own!

Please welcome Tony, Nancy, Robert, and Sonia! They graduated our early 2026 session and joined Spares and Pairs. We look forward to dancing with them and becoming square dance friends. As they start dancing in the area, please say hello and welcome them into your squares!

Our Mother's Day dance on May 10th featured many mothers! In fact, all of them aren't even in this picture! It was another fun Sunday dance with Spares and Pairs!

We had a great time at our Mother's Day dance, with 3 squares in attendance.
No club dance in June, due to MN State Convention.
Our next dance is Sunday, July 12, 2026. Celebrate America's 250th!

This is such a fun event every year! it's a bit of a drive from Bloomington, but well worth it. The club is welcoming, the food is great, and the venue this year (the Marthaler Shed) a great place to dance. Bill VanBergen did a great job calling square dances and even a few line dances. It's the topper on Rockin' Country's square dance year until they pick up again in the fall. Definitely put this on your schedule for early next May!

We were happy to return to Dakota Squares' dance this past weekend to grab a banner. Dakota Squares dancers, you know what to do now! 😀

Spares and Pairs held their aptly-named "Rain or Shine" dance this past Sunday afternoon on a day that featured both sun and precipitation. Good call, Spares!

Larry Fruetel called and led line dances and almost four squares had a great time. Westonka Whirlers even brought enough dancers to qualify for a banner.

Just as surely as spring comes sometime every year, so will our April dance. This April we're dancing "Rain or Shine"! Bring your umbrella and galoshes or bring your sunglasses and a summery hat. If you're a real pessimist, bring your snow boots. But come to our dance!

We're dancing on Sunday, April 12, from 2 to 4 pm. We'll be inside (hey, it's Minnesota, in April!) at the Jefferson Activity Center Dance Studio, 4001 W 102nd Street, in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Our Go Green dance saw lots of dancers come and go! Larry Fruetel called and led line dances for more than five squares and people had a great time! Dakota Squares retrieved their banner. (You know what this means, Spares dancers!)

Coming to our dance on Sunday?

If you take 494 be aware that MnDOT has scheduled road construction this weekend between 77 and 35W. The highway will be closed in both directions from 10 pm Friday till 5 am Monday. Your GPS should be aware but if it is not (or you don't have GPS), here are some possible alternates:

62 to 35W south in Richfield to the 98th Street exit and then west on 98th to France Avenue South and then south to 102nd Street and Bloomington Jefferson High School.

If you normally drive 494 from the east, take 494 to the 34th Avenue exit and go south. That road becomes Old Shakopee Road. Take Old Shakopee Road to France Avenue South. Turn north on France. Jefferson High School is at France and 102nd.

If you take 494 from the west, take 35W south to the 98th Street exit and then go west to France Avenue South to 102nd Street and Jefferson High School.
