Andy Bishop, one of our outstanding Marlin student teachers, has been recognized by the IU Outstanding Future Educators Award as one of eight Honorable Mentions. During his time in Mrs. Barrow’s 4th grade classroom, Andy has made a meaningful and lasting impact on students. We are proud to have been part of his journey in education and wish him continued success as he begins his teaching career in a 5th grade classroom in Southern Indiana.

Join us in congratulating our 2026 Teacher of the Year honorees! All were honored at our awards ceremony earlier this month.

Juli Fisher demonstrates exemplary instructional practices every day in her first grade classroom at Marlin Elementary through collaboration, project-based learning, direct instruction, and consistent expectations. She utilizes innovative strategies such as vertical spaces, math rotations, and strategic groupings based on data. She is a leader in the building's Project Based Learning initiative with an ongoing garden project where students actively participate alongside community partners β€” linking gardening to math and English Language Arts (ELA) while even sharing soup made from the garden's harvest with the Pre-K classroom. Her students regularly demonstrate strong reading growth, building a foundation that carries through to later assessments. πŸ“–πŸŒ±

Mrs. Fisher serves as a leader in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, communicates with families through every channel available β€” ParentSquare, phone calls, written notes β€” and is a leader in the school’s implementation of Reveal Math. She advocates for students, collaborates with staff and families, and presses forward with initiatives that make a difference. As her nominator shared, "Her students demonstrate growth academically and they demonstrate growth personally β€” through self-monitoring and goal-setting." πŸ’›πŸ‰
