This group has spent the last 3 days in St. Charles, Missouri learning all about how to make our professional learning communities (PLC) even stronger! Thank you to Solution Tree for putting on such a meaningful event!
The Summer Night of Lotus event was held tonight at Deer Park Manor. This event serves as an annual fundraiser for Lotus to support all the diverse music and arts programs they host throughout the year. Mr. Gobert and Ms. Allbright (former Unionville principal and current Director of Adult Ed) were able to speak at the event to share how the Lotus programs benefit our schools. We are so grateful for our parternship and all the wonderful opportunities it provides our students!
We are so lucky to have the MCCSC STEM to Them Bus at Summer School. Today, students got to learn about invasive species through a partnership with Sycamore Land Trust!
With summer school taking place at Fairview, Mr. Gobert is working with one of our favorite Fairview graduates, Ed Lavender, from the transportation department. It’s always great to have Mr. Lavender come to our school! We appreciate all that he does to help in so many ways! 🚌
This awesome group of Fairview teachers spent time this afternoon learning new strategies to help teach reading to our students! Special thanks to our school psychologist, Dr. Lewandowski, for leading the training. 📚
Dr. Reynolds (art) and Mrs. Olivo (music) participated in an ISTEAM Workshop for teachers the last three days! We cannot wait to see what fun ideas they bring back to the classroom in August. 🎨🤖🎵
It may be summer break, but the teachers are still working hard for next year! Mrs. Crigler has been busy gathering supplies for her classroom at the Teachers Warehouse. We hope everyone has enjoyed their first week off!
We needed a way to stay cool on Field Day and snow cones were the perfect treat! Mr. Morgan (a former Fairview staff member), along with his crew at the Bloomington Fire Department, came to serve Morgan’s Sweet Ice for all the kids. 🍧

Thank you so much for helping make the last day of school special. 😊
We finished up our last day of school with Field Day! A special shoutout to Miss Kelly and Mr. McKenzie who helped plan and organize the event. Also, a special thanks to our 5th and 6th grade helpers. Lots of smiles and laughs, along with beautiful weather!

We wish everyone a relaxing and safe summer! We will see you in August!
You know it’s been a good day when there are three Facebook posts made about it! This special group makes up our Fairview Student Council. They came up with the idea to have “Wildcat Wednesdays” to show school spirit. In addition, it was designed to encourage students and staff to bring in items for a food drive. Today, we were able to donate 168 pounds of food to MCUM!

Thank you for everyone’s contributions!
EXICITING NEWS! Our library is receiving a grant to purchase new books for students. This grant is awarded nationwide to less than 50 libraries! Thank you Ms. Fulk for all your hard work with this grant and for sharing your love of reading! 📚

We are so fortunate to benefit from a wonderful opportunity provided by the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County. This evening, Catholic Charities Bloomington Counseling Services was awarded a Community Impact Grant that will directly benefit our students and families. The following excerpt was shared by the Community Foundation and explains how the grant will impact our school.

“Catholic Charities Bloomington Counseling Services to fund 800 Child Therapy Program sessions at Fairview Elementary School. – This evidenced-based therapy program increases the accessibility of mental health care for children experiencing poverty, food and housing scarcity, and generational trauma. By decreasing family barriers such as travel or after-work appointments, this school-embedded program, combined with at-home techniques for parents, serves as a preventative tool to address trauma and prevent future cycles of poverty.”

A huge thank you to both of these tremendous organizations!
