Announcements with Ms. Haire 8/28

Happy Friday! Please be sure to let your teacher know today (if you haven't yet) what your decision is for Sept. 8: online or in person?

Here are today's announcements:

[08/26/20]   Important update for Fairview Families on School Changes:

Dear Families,

The MCCSC school board voted last night to open our schools for "in-person" instruction for grades PK-6, 5 days a week, beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2020. You do still have the option to choose 100% online instruction. There will be designated teachers for the online instruction, so your child may or may not have the same teacher that he/she has right now. We will make that decision based on how many students continue to remain online.

Your child's teacher will be contacting you between now and Monday to ask you for your choice of 100% online instruction or 100% in-person school for all Fairview students. If you already know your plans, please go ahead and email your child's teacher with your decision. If your child will be attending in person, please be ready to tell the teacher:
how your child will get to school in the morning (walk/bike, bus or parent drop-off);
how your child will be getting home after school (walk/bike, bus or parent pick-up).
If your child will be riding a bus, please confirm the addresses for a.m. pick-up and p.m. drop-off.

Thank you for your ongoing patience and flexibility as we work together to help meet the needs of our children!

Sincerely,

Marti Colglazier, Principal
Shawn Gobert, Assistant Principal

[08/12/20]   A trick to try if the Canvas App not working:

Go to SETTINGS on the iPad (not in Canvas)
Scroll down to STUDENT CANVAS and select
On the right turn ON the "RESET CACHE ON NEXT LAUNCH" button
Close the app and reopen - it should be fixed, but will require you to login again.

[08/12/20]   Dear Parents and Guardians -

The MCCSC IS Department is currently working with Apple and our mobile device management system to resolve errors related to app downloads that you or your student may have experienced. Unfortunately the errors are originating from the app source with Apple and taking some time to resolve. We sincerely apologize for the disruption to your student’s learning. We do see symptoms improving as the systems continue to synchronize and adjust to the installation requests from outside our network.

In the interim, please know that you may access Canvas via the web browser on student devices at https://mccsc.instructure.com and Microsoft Teams via the browser at https://teams.microsoft.com. On the iPad, in order to access via Safari you may need to toggle a setting on the device to make it work, go to Preferences > Privacy and uncheck the Prevent cross-site tracking setting.

Again, our apologies for the disruption and we thank you for your support in this new educational environment.

Please share with neighbors and Fairview friends!
Help us plan for 2020-21 as best we can by going onto Skyward (www.mccsc.edu/skyward ) to register. ALL students need to be registered EVERY year. This year it has to be done online. In question #2 you will need to choose if you will have your children go Virtual or In Person and choose your transportation option. There are literally hundreds who have yet to do this! July 20th is the “deadline”. This will help us prepare for our school to re-open.

***personal experience note **** I had already registered my kids, but you still need to go back and choose your option for in person/virtual....so when I logged into skyward it wasn’t super easy to find where to do this. Click on Register, then click a child’s name. THEN choose to edit registration....then go back and complete #2 as well as the transportation question. SAVE.DONE.
