Tuesday, June 3 Westwood hosted a Family Summer Reading Kick-off. It was supported with our Title 1 family engagement funds and organized by our Title 1 teacher, Rebecca Schulz and the Intervention Team of Becky Frey and Julia Wiessner. Many staff members also helped with the evening!
It was a huge success with around 140 people attending ---over 60 children and their families. They received a coupon for a free book, coupon for a dinner of pizza, applesauce and cookies. This was followed by professional storytellers, THE WONDER WEAVERS who painted wonderful imaginative stories based on familiar literature books. Hennepin County Library was also here to support summer library events. Each child was given a "passport" for summer reading to be returned this fall.

Bring in your Box Tops!
Top-sicle Tuesday's start tomorrow. Tape 5 Box Tops to the pink half sheet sent home or a half sheet of paper and your Wildcat receives a popsicle after they have eaten their lunch. This is every Tuesday in May!
