Our Hungarian Art and Music of 19th and 20th Century Hungary class visited the Lilly Library during the last week of classes to take a look at the Lilly's amazing collection of Hungarian materials! Thank you, Veronika Trotter, for putting together this wonderful collection of Hungarian history and culture!

Our commemoration of the 1848 Revolution brought together students and faculty in a shared effort to honor history through both academic and cultural perspectives.
With the guidance and support of Professor Valéria Varga and FLTA Henriett Papp, we were able to host an engaging program featuring a lecture by Professor Gergely Rajnai connecting the revolution to American history, a piano performance of Ferenc Liszt’s works by Ben Morton, and a reading of Pacsirtaszó by our president, Brittany Jánosi.

Köszönjük mindenkinek, aki eljött!

On October 18th the Hungarian Cultural Association organized a Dance House event to familiarize people with Hungarian folk dances. We welcomed prof. Henrik Kovács, a folk dance teacher, kinetography expert, and Fulbright visiting scholar at Kenyon College, Ohio. Prof. Kovács taught us several traditional circle dances, such as Kezes, Kecskés, Pálmácska, and the renowned Csárdás—now recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. In addition to folk dance, folk music also played a part in the program: prof. Kovács played us some beautiful folk songs on the traditional Hungarian flute.
We had an amazing time and would like to express our gratitude to such a wonderful instructor and to all who supported this event: Hungarian Cultural Association, Central Eurasian Studies, Russian and East European Institute, IAUNCR, Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance, The Institute for European Studies, and Fulbright Hungary.
