A couple of weeks ago a child therapist that I know looked at my kids and said,

"You're such a good mom"

Feeling like a total fraud I blurted, "I don't feel like a good mom. The kids are driving me so crazy, I'm losing my temper and falling asleep at night wondering where I'm going to get the patience for another day"

To which she responded with a statement that I haven't been able to forget,

"Babies cry, it's how they communicate. Toddlers scream, children whinge and teenagers complain.
Then moms say the words 'for f#$& sake under their breath before ever responding. It's how we communicate.

But guess what Con? It's better than silence.

A house full of screaming kids and fighting teenagers and a parent who's being thrown every question and request is a healthy one to me.
It's the silent children, the scared toddlers, the teenagers that don't come home and the parents who aren't in communication with their children that I worry about.

And kids don't drive you crazy, you were crazy already. That's why you had them."

And just like that, I felt like a good parent again.

Deep breaths, you're doing a good job.

💗👑 Constance Hall.

We ❤️ you Eric Carle!

From the Eric Carle Team: It is with heavy hearts that we share that Eric Carle, author and illustrator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and many other beloved classics, passed away on Sunday, May 23rd at the age of 91.

When asked why he thinks The Very Hungry Caterpillar has remained popular for so long, Carle said, “I think it is a book of hope. Children need hope. You, little insignificant caterpillar can grow up into a beautiful butterfly and fly into the world with your talent.”

Thank you, Eric Carle for sharing your great talent with so many generations of young readers. #RememberingEricCarle

😢

We are saddened to share that Beverly Cleary, one of the most beloved children’s books authors of all time, passed away yesterday, March 25, at 104 years old.

Looking back, Beverly would often say, ‘I’ve had a lucky life,’ and generations of readers count themselves lucky, too—lucky to have the very real characters she created, including Henry Huggins, Ramona and Beezus Quimby, and Ralph S. Mouse, as true friends who helped shape their growing-up years. https://bit.ly/3lTZovk

Love when people donate the hair... a simple way to help a child who needs hair. Yours will grow back their’s may not..
https://www.childrenwithhairloss.us/

Today I chopped off my hair. NINE inches donated and gone.

I sat in the chair and pointed to the length I wanted it cut. The hairdresser said it was about six inches that would be cut off.

I asked how long it needed to be to donate to which she replied, "eight inches, then I'll cut another inch off to straighten it out."

I sat there in silence for a few seconds while she patiently waited for my response and then blurted out, "let's do it."

It made me feel really selfish not to donate over three inches. I asked about the Children With Hair Loss Foundation because I wanted to know that it was actually a non-profit and that my hair wouldn't be sold for profit.

"But it's so long and beautiful!", a lady said to me from a nearby chair. "Yeah, it's so so pretty..." another chimed in. Every woman in that salon was staring at me in disbelief. "I need everyone to stop talking.", I said half jokingly. But that sealed the deal for me. At that point I felt a strong push to do it, to get over myself, to get over my vanity.

My hair has always been my identity. It's the first thing strangers notice about me and the only thing I get compliments on daily. The fact that my hair means so much to me made giving it away feel so much more rewarding. God has blessed me with a healthy head of hair that grows quickly and unless he takes that away, I don't see my hair changing any time soon.

I teared up in the chair as the young lady washed my hair, not because my hair was gone but because I know that one day soon a set of parents will be staring at my hair and possibly putting it in their child's head every single day. Can you image putting on your small child's hair? Over a bald head. And wearing a wig is the SMALLEST issue these people face. It's just something superficial that makes the child feel more normal in society.

My hair makes me happy. But there is no way curling my long hair to go out for a girls' night makes me as happy as a kid who gets a wig to make them feel just a bit more confident and not so alienated. I just kept imagining if it was one of my kids who needed a wig.

I don't have time to volunteer as much as I'd like to at this point in my life. I'm a stay at home mom to a four-year-old and a two-year-old leaving me with only an hour of free time (nap time) a day. My hair is what I have to offer right now.

Perks of my new hairdo:
1. Light as a feather!
2. Healthier..goodbye dead ends!
3. I look like a teenager. (I'm choosing to see this as a positive 😂)
4. A constant reminder of what I did and who I helped. I got to help someone's baby.

To me it's just hair, but to someone else it's so much more 😊❤💇🏼

(Finally got to use that hair cutting emoji ... too bad it's not a Redhead.)

Vaping is No Trivial Matter

This is such an issue for our older kids in schools but not as old as you would think...The flavors are like bubble gum and for some reason they think it’s healthier..
