The MAAA program has always emphasized experiential learning, because we know that the work of arts administration – the work of bridging between the art and the audience – can’t just be learned from a book. Each year, between practicum projects and internships, our students log hundreds of hours of service work, which both transforms students’ educational experience and serves the field.
Please help us in supporting student internships by making a gift to the MAAA General fund. Even in 2025, many internships in arts organizations are unpaid or low-paid. And while we have done our part by allowing for tuition waivers for internship credit, we still have many students who can’t afford to take on an internship at a renowned arts organization simply because they can’t afford to spend a summer working for free. We have learned that, when we provide fellowships to support student internships, students reach higher, build bigger and stronger networks, and position themselves better for their future careers.
If you remember how transformative your internship was for you, please join us in providing that experience for current MAAA students. A gift of any amount helps us provide support for all that MAAA students need to thrive while they are here in Bloomington.
