Real progress starts when educators work together.

At Alpine School District, multilingual learners were not growing or reaching proficiency at the same levels as their peers. To respond, the district formed ML task forces made up of teachers and administrators.

The teams studied student data, focused on WIDA standards, and shared instructional strategies they tested in their own classrooms.

The results were measurable: high school multilingual learners increased English proficiency from 3% to 18%, and K–8 multilingual learners increased from 5.7% to 14.3%.
