Tanya Jones is a doctoral candidate in Physical Culture and Sports Studies at The University of Texas at Austin and has a B.S. and M.S. in kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton. Her research, broadly, focuses on the intersection of race, politics, and sport. Specifically, Tanya’s research concentrates on the history of modern sport and race, and its impact on society. Tanya’s graduate research in the past five years involves the history of sporting boycotts in the United States surrounding apartheid South Africa.

We would like to officially congratulate Dr. Jonathan Benedek on the successful defense of his dissertation this morning! Dr. Benedek becomes the 50th Ph.D. graduate of the IU sport management doctoral program with his defense. Under the advisement of Dr. Pedersen and committee members Dr. Williams/Byon/Mathias, and with a strong alumni and current student contingent, Dr. Benedek performed extremely well. This is the second passed dissertation within the program in the last three weeks!
