Monroe County 4-H - Purdue Extension Providing opportunity to youth who will have a positive impact in their communities and the world.

Monroe County 4-H strives to follow the Indiana 4-H Mission and Vision by providing positive youth development. Monroe County has over 20 active clubs that meet at various times during the year. Some clubs focus on specific topics while other offer more general topics. 4-H offers youth the ability to make life-long friends while learning by doing. Our motto, "To Make the Best Better," helps youth to strive to learn more, do more and be more than they ever thought possible. 4-H members are able to participate in a wide variety of opportunities:
1) Attend Club Meetings
2) Learn by Doing
3) Complete projects at local and state level
4) Compete in Communication Competitions
5) Attend local and State Workshops
6) Attend State and National 4-H Conferences
7) Develop life-long friendships
8) Work on life skills
9) Become leaders in their community
10) and so much more!!! 🍀*Monroe County 4-H is growing—and we need more great people to grow with us!**
We have young people ready to learn and lead, exciting ideas waiting to take shape, and more possibilities than our current volunteer team can carry alone.
That is why we are looking for more caring adults and community partners! Increasing our capacity means reaching more youth, growing more programs, and saying **“YES!”** to more clubs, workshops, events, mentoring, leadership experiences, and hands-on learning.

There are opportunities to:
🍀 Work with youth through clubs, projects, workshops, mentoring, camp, trips, after-school programs, Mini 4-H, Junior Leaders, and more.
🎪 Help with the fair, shows, judging, exhibits, the Junior Leaders food stand, the Children’s Farm Festival, outreach, setup, or logistics.
📋 Serve through boards, committees, communications, planning, administration, volunteer support, or other behind-the-scenes roles.
🤝 Share expertise, community connections, space, equipment, supplies, transportation, professional services, sponsorships, or donations.
You can help once, occasionally, seasonally, throughout the year, or on a flexible schedule. **No previous 4-H experience is required, and completing the interest form is not a commitment.**
Everyone is welcome to learn more, including youth in grades 7–12, families, alumni, volunteers, and community supporters.

This Saturday is International Charity Day. In celebration of all the community service that Monroe County 4-H does we wanted to shine a light on Abby Smith's extraordinary passion in Monroe County! With a YES Grant, she fueled a movement of compassion at the Hannah Center in Bloomington, providing essential baby items and unleashing a tide of kindness that lifts up the community. Abby and the Happy Hearts Club spread love and hope to those who need it most. What will your club achieve with a YES Grant? 🌟 Get ready to apply and unlock the power to make a lasting impact!

📣As our YES Grants program grows, we are making a few changes that will help provide youth with a positive experience as they pursue their goals in leading community service projects.

✅ NEW TIMELINE:
We are shifting the timeline for the 2027 application process to open a few months earlier. Please note there will be a slight overlap as 2026 YES grant recipients will be wrapping up your 2026 reports and potentially, simultaneously applying for a 2027 grant. The 2027 application portal opens September 15, 2026.

✅ NEW SOFTWARE:
We are piloting new software that will hopefully make the application and reporting processes easier to navigate. Like in past years, the application portal will be linked from our YES Grants webpage at in4h.org/grants once it opens on September 15.

This evening the Monroe County Council welcomed Autumn Ulmet, Correll Patnode, and Kip Harmon to share an update regarding exciting plans our 4-H youth have made for the coming year, as well as a testimony of the amazing experiences they have had as delegates of national 4-H trips. They broke the news tonight that Monroe Co will be organizing a delegation of 15(!) people to attend Citizenship Washington Focus at Ignite by 4-H in Washington D.C. — more details to come!
