Indiana University Bloomington Biology Greenhouse

Everyone is extra lucky this week (and not just because of St. Patrick's Day). Even though students are off for Spring Break, we will be open during our regular times this week. Come see us today through Friday, 8am - 3:45pm.

Thanks to the amazing maintenance team at IU, the room with the carnivorous plants is open again! 🎉

You asked and we listened! Tomorrow (Saturday March 7) we will be open from 10am - 2pm for guests to come and visit. This is a special event and will be used to gauge interest in additional weekend hours. We hope to see you there!

⚠️ Announcement: Carnivorous Plants Room Closed ⚠️

Last night a portion of the glass roofing over our carnivorous plants sustained major damage. We walked into quite the mess this morning! Due to the risk of falling glass (and the rain coming into the area) this section (Room F) will be closed until further notice.

Puxsutawney Phil might have seen his shadow but it is already looking (and feeling) like Spring in the Greenhouse! If you want to join a guided tour, check out the available times this month (please note that the Feb. 10th tour is at 11AM not 11:00 in the evening). Guests are also welcome to wander by themselves during our open hours (M-F from 7:30a - 3:45p).

Welcome back Hoosiers! 🎉 Here are some updates for visitors as we start the New Year in the Greenhouse:

- The IU Biology Greenhouse will be closed to the public on Monday, January 19th in observance of MLK Jr. Day

- Over Winter Break our staff noticed some areas that are becoming safety hazards to both workers and guests. These areas are currently undergoing maintenance to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time when they visit! Please know that all decisions are being made with extreme care. We deeply value the history of the Greenhouse but safety is our first priority. Thank you in advance for understanding and respecting these changes! ❤️
