Today I was honored to be recognized during Indiana Arts Education Advocacy Day at the Indiana State House. Shout out to my Mom for her support today and to Dominic Thompson for such an official looking photo pose! 😄
I love my job teaching young people to make music. And as Dave Woodley and Scott Johnson always said, "if you're not having fun, you are doing it wrong!" 💛🖤💛🖤
This was the final piece "Terracotta Warriors" at All-Region Honor Band! Zach has the recorder solo in the beginning. Luke has a timpani solo 2/3 through the song.
I was super proud of our six BMS Honor Band students! 💛🖤💛

Batchelor Middle School musicians earn high honors in state competitions For the first time both the Batchelor Middle School band and choir earned the highest honor at state competition.

Honored to receive MCCSC's ⭐ "Star of Excellence" ⭐ award tonight along with so many of my outstanding colleagues (Jeff Rudkin, Jon Hansen, and Jerry Carpenter). And wonderful student music tonight from North, Fairview, South, and the HYP! It's easy to focus on the job when you work under such terrific administrators. Thanks Eric, Greg, and Ashley 🙏

Great weekend for our Batchelor MS jazz program.
The Choir and Band both rated gold at their respective festival sites!
The band scored "with distinction" despite the bus breaking down on the way, arriving after their performance time, getting no warm-up, and going straight to the stage!
And congratulations to our outstanding soloist award winners: Julio Herrera, Audrey Eason, Jack Taylor, Mark Baird, Tristan Stogdill, Connor Lafferty, TJ Decker, and Nathan Just!
