We can’t wait to welcome our Rockets back to school! Our teachers and staff have been hard at work preparing classrooms and getting everything ready for an incredible year. We know it’s going to be our best one yet, and we can’t wait to see everyone’s smiling faces soon!

We are only NINE days away from the First Day of School! We look forward to students diving back into the arts and exploring everything from visual arts — ceramics🏺, stained glass 🪟, painting 🎨 and more — to taking the stage in performing arts 🎭 and music 🎶!

Did you know that MCCSC music programs consistently rank among the top 5 statewide? We offer an Elementary Strings 🎻 program in addition to various band 🥁, orchestra 🎵 and choir 🎤 options in our high schools and all three middle schools: Batchelor Middle School, Jackson Creek Middle School, and Tri North Middle School.

In addition, Fairview Elementary School is an Arts Integration school — offering "choice" arts classes in addition to regular music 🎼, art 🖌, physical education 🏀, and Spanish 📚 classes.

Bloomington High School North and Bloomington High School South also frequently have upcoming events and performances for HYP (Hoosier Youth Philharmonic), TheatreSouth, Sounds of South, Panther Regiment (Bloomington South Bands), Bloomington North Theatre, and more! About the Program: MCCSC’s Extended Day Program offers before and after school care in 14 elementary schools. Programming is available to students in 3-year-old Preschool through 6th grade. Students will engage in a variety of hands-on, student-led activities, social development opportunities, as well as indoor and outdoor play.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 5, 2026! Visit mccsc.edu/backtoschool for helpful information to help you prepare. Your child’s school will send you important information and things you may need to do specific to your school or your child.

Attend our Elementary School “Meet and Greet” event Tuesday, August 4, 2026 (Day before school) from 3:00 – 4:00 PM at All MCCSC Elementary Schools. Preschool and Pre-K programs are included in the event.

🧵✨ A Quilt Woven with Community ✨🧵

After attending the Indiana University School of Education’s 250th anniversary celebration, Mrs. Glasgow returned to Rogers inspired to create a community quilt that would represent the heart of our school.

With the help of our amazing librarian, Mrs. Lehr, every Rogers student learned about the history of quilting and the stories of hope, resilience, and community woven throughout our country’s past. Each student created a unique quilt square, and together those pieces became a beautiful representation of our entire Rogers family.

The finished quilt was proudly displayed at the IU Eskenazi Museum of Art for the community to enjoy. We are so thankful to the Rogers PTO and Teachers Warehouse for providing the supplies that made this special project possible! ❤️

Rogers Elementary is starting a new Reading Training and Tutor program for caregivers. If you would like to participate in the pilot program this month, please contact Amy Potthast ASAP.

MCCSC Faculty - Get Ready! 2026-2027 Grant Applications open on July 1st! Relevant links in comments.

Last year, Shannon Lehr, Media Specialist at Rogers Elementary School, received a FMCCS grant for Chomp Saws to expand the Media Center's Maker Space. Chomp Saws are great for younger learners to use to cut thicker materials like cardboard safely and independently.

The Chomp Saw and maker tools were incorporated into weekly
maker sessions, classroom extension activities, and independent student projects. Students used the materials to create story settings and props, cardboard engineering builds, collaborative
structures, animal habitats, and other science-connected models.

Mrs. Lehr noted, "As an educator, this grant reinforced how valuable maker-centered learning can be for young students. The maker space became more than a creative area; it became a place
where students practiced resilience, communication, problem-solving, and innovation in their engagement and their sense of ownership in learning."
