SPEA USO is looking for new officers for the 2018-2019 academic year!

TO APPLY FOR A POSITION:
Send a resume and a paragraph (no more than 300 words) on why you would like to be a member of the Board to [email protected] by Friday March 30th. Please be sure to include your name in the subject line of the email. Current Board members will contact you to schedule a short 15-minute interview.
President
The purpose of the president is to schedule meetings and lead the meetings in a timely and effective manner. The president will delegate tasks and represent the organization in meetings. The president will act as a liaison between the board and other student member groups. The president will attend all events and ensure the Spirit of SPEA is represented throughout the organization.
Vice President
The Vice President shall assist the President in any and all day-to-day affairs. As one of the lead managers of the Board, the Vice President will aid in the delegation of roles for projects and is expected to represent the organization in meetings. In conjunction with the Secretary, the Vice President is expected to organize any event, ensuring all members are aware of events, and attending the event.

Secretary
The purpose of the Secretary is to ensure that all organization records are made and distributed in a timely manner. All agendas, minutes, and related materials will be uploaded to the SPEA USO Box Account and kept for future reference. The Secretary will maintain the organization’s email and facilitate communications between members, the Board, and the advisors. In conjunction with the Vice President, the Secretary is expected to organize any event, ensuring that all members are aware of events, and attending the event.

Treasurer
The Treasurer is expected to inform the financial well being of the organization and promote fundraising initiatives and goals on behalf of the organization. The duties of the Treasurer include, but are not limited to, (1) ensuring that the organization remains in compliance with Indiana University Student Organization Account (IU SOA) regulations, (2) lead the re-registration process with the IU SOA, (3) complete required IU SOA Treasurer training in a timely fashion, (4) create and present fundraising proposals, (5) develop budgets for the semester and individual events.

Director of Marketing
It is the responsibility of the Director of Marketing to increase engagement of organization members. The Director will be expected to create and distribute promotional materials for any event, manage the organization’s email, and ensure that all events are well attended.

Board Member
Board members will help the organization with the tasks at hand. Board members will contribute to meeting discussion and attend all events. They will bring knowledge and connections to the organization.

President
The President, as chief executive, is responsible for ensuring that the organization is properly managed and fulfilling the long-term viability of the organization’s success. As President, it will be necessary but not limited to (1) attend all board and member meetings, (2) actively reach out to other organizations for collaboration, (3) present proposals to the Undergraduate Programming Office and Dean’s Office, (4) preside over all meetings, and, (5) promptly fill any vacancies that may arise in the board
Vice President
