At the end of June, members of the IU Bloomington ALA (American Library Association) Student Chapter headed to Philadelphia for the ALA 2025 Annual Conference & Exhibition. From June 26-30, they explored the city, connected with fellow library professionals and students, and were inspired through workshops and presentations. We caught up with ALA SC President Sophia Congdon to learn more about the group’s experience.

IU Luddy Department of Information and Library Science Assistant Professor Yuerong Hu recently received a SHARP Lightning Grant. Lightning Seed Grants are awarded annually to SHARP members for events or activities that support global book history studies and research.

Congratulations to Christina Boyles, Associate Professor in ILS, on receiving the IU Institute Research Fellowship!

Christina Boyles, Associate Professor of Information and Library Science at Luddy, has been named an IU Institute for Advanced Study 2025 Summer Research Fellow.

Boyles said she’ll use the award for Archiving Puerto Rico, a book project that explores the intersections of disaster response, digital humanities, and lived experiences of Puerto Ricans.
