One of our favorite book series the elementary grade students read at White Horse.

"We must acknowledge that the moral universe of Frog and Toad is simply our universe, no discipline is pleasant at the time, and that parents and teachers alike are sometimes obligated to make the lives of students unpleasant. Frog and Toad stories are good stories for most people. Be most people."

If I were not a Christian, Arnold Lobel’s Frog and Toad books would be my holy scripture. When I meet a sane adult, I assume his sanity comes largely from having heard Frog and Toad stories in his youth. We are very blessed to have Ms. Michaela Abbott joining us to teach our Second and Third Grade class!👏

Michaela studied English and History at Olivet Nazarene University, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in 2022. Her love for classic literature and the fine arts led to her interest in classical education, and she aims to encourage her students to delight in the wonderful inheritance preserved for them in the Christian classical tradition. Michaela lives in East Peoria and attends the Church of the Nazarene with her family.

🏫August is here, which means teachers are back hard at work! We are overjoyed to have numerous new teachers joining the faculty.

First up is Lucy Simon: She has over ten years of experience working with children and four years of experience teaching in Christian and Montessori preschool settings, including operating her own in-home Christian preschool. She is passionate about nurturing each child’s academic, spiritual, and character development while fostering a joyful love of learning. Lucy and her husband, Grant, attend Livingstone Communities church in Bloomington.

For those of us with children, we’ve been given a great privilege and responsibility to raise them up in the fear and admonition of the Lord. We love them and we want to raise them well, but tasks and events and our own tiredness can really crowd out being intentional with them. We’ll do it next...

Last week our teachers were blessed to attend a wonderful classical Christian teaching conference, hosted by Stanley M. Herzog Foundation and College of the Ozarks . The campus was beautiful, the lectures enlightening, and the people delightful. And the homemade ice cream using milk from the college's cows...to die for!
