IU horn professors Richard Seraphinoff and Denise Tryon are pleased to announce the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music has opened a search for a full-time teaching position in horn.
Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Music (Horn), Tenured or Tenure-track position.
Responsibilities include studio teaching of horn majors at all levels and in all degree and diploma programs along with coaching of chamber music. Service on Jacobs School of Music committees and participation in department meetings, recital hearings, competitions, juries, auditions, recruitment activities and doctoral advisory committees is expected. Other duties may be assigned from within the Brass Department.

The IU horn department typically consists of three full-time horn professors and 45-50 horn students ranging from undergraduate to master’s and doctoral degree programs. Students have opportunities to perform regularly in our five orchestras, three wind bands, new music ensemble, baroque orchestra, and chamber music.

Congratulations to Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Indiana University Department of Bands Symphonic and Concert Bands on their wonderful performances Tuesday night. Symphonic Band performed works by Gould, Schuman, and Smith. We also had one of our own, Jacob Kessler, conducting one of the pieces! And Concert Band performed works by Bernstein, Bremer, Fillinger and Santos.

Congratulations to Symphony Orchestra on their performance Sunday evening. Works performed by Hailstork and Beethoven. The horns sounded fabulous! This rounded out our incredible opening weekend of concerts at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music - Whew!!

Our opening weekend continued with the Philharmonic Orchestra performing Wagner’s Die Walküre, Act 1 (Lessing reduction) this past Saturday evening. Another Wagner Tuben section!! Great job all!

This past Friday, we started off our school year climbing a mountain!! Concert Orchestra played Strauss’ Alpine as well as Frank’s Apu . The horn section sounded fantastic! Congratulations to the horns, the Wagner Tuben and the offstage players!
