🌟 Help us welcome Shauntalaya Wilburn to the D87 family!
Shauntalaya is joining Stevenson as a paraprofessional for the 2026/27 school year. Last year, she was teaching preschool at Milestones Early Learning Center, and she’s excited to make the move to public schools. This year, she looks forward to getting to know her students!

Fun facts: Shauntalaya loves spending time with her family (including her two dogs!) and enjoys reading in her free time.

Students worked together and dove into genetics with a fun Recipe for Traits activity, randomly picking genes to determine their dogs' phenotypic traits. 🧬🖍️
Learning about science is "paws-itively" awesome! 🐾✨

🎉🏠 House Party at Bent!
The Superstars kicked off the school year with a fun family night, filled with a scavenger hunt, dancing, volleyball, games, and food (shoutout to the grillers on duty!)! 🌟🍽

Bent has a house system, and students belong to one of four houses: Altruismo, Amistad, Isibindi, or Reveur- a system in place for students to connect, grow, and instill a sense of belonging.💫❤️

🎉✨ : September is United in Belonging!
This month, we’re celebrating belonging in D87—and what better place to start than in the classroom? 🏫💛

In Mr. Hopper’s class at Irving, students showcased belonging by sharing their poetry, solving puzzles, and creating “Be You” art projects together. It’s moments like these that bring about connection and a sense of belonging both in and outside the classroom!💙

Este mes celebramos el sentido de pertenencia en el D87, ¿y qué mejor lugar para empezar que en el aula? 🏫💛
