2026-2027 MMTA Handbook

This year's MMTA Handbook is in the final stages of editing and will be published online again this year. We are no longer offering professionally bound copies due to printing costs, but please let the office know if you would like or need a printed copy and we will see what we can do.

Event: Voice and Instrumental Young Artist Contest

Registration deadline: 6 Weeks before the event (Spring Semester)

Intensity level: Great for competitive students that can perform a 7, 15, or 25 minute program (based on age). All levels have a theory requirement.

Price: $60. (For voice students only - after the student's participation in the Voice and Instrumental Young Artist Contest, the fee will be reimbursed by the Holzer Endowment, a fund created by Shirley Holzer to support the MMTA Voice Program.)

Repertoire requirements: Repertoire is chosen by the teacher, but must be standard repertoire pieces (no showtunes/pop music). The Exam Syllabi are excellent resources.

An Overview: All students perform their solo for a judge the morning of the event. In the early afternoon the Finale Concert is performed. All 1st place students perform a few minutes of their solo repertoire, and then all participating students perform a group piece together - the music is sent to registered teachers a month ahead of time.
